Fire Suppression System

A fixed extinguishing system, usually in the engine room.

A fixed fire-suppression system floods the engine room with an extinguishing agent, released automatically by heat or manually from the helm, and shuts down the engines and ventilation with it. It is required by most flag and class rules on commercially registered yachts and fitted on most private ones above a modest size. The agent and the service date are the two things a surveyor will check.
