The Amalfi coast is a vertical shore of terraced villages between Sorrento and Salerno, with Capri standing off the point and Ischia and Procida across the bay. It is a cruise of short distances and big views: a morning under the cliffs, lunch at anchor off Positano, the evening at Capri or in the Marina Grande at Sorrento.
Beyond the bay the coast turns quieter fast. The Cilento shore to the south is largely empty, and the Pontine islands a few hours west are the local yachts’ own weekend ground.
